"In the next few weeks, we will have the Normandy format summit of heads of state and government," Macron said.

He noted that Ukraine needs "courage to build peace."

"President Zelensky has taken the first steps. President Putin has responded. The progress has been made over the past few weeks. And here we know again what should be the next steps. We have the Minsk agreements, and we should be able to build a lasting peace by working on the ground," Macron said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said on September 13 that the Normandy format summit in Paris would not take place in the near future, as Russia "cannot" take part in it.

It was earlier planned that such a meeting could be held as early as September 16. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his desire to hold the Normandy format summit by the end of September.
